                       INDOOR GARDENING

Now that my garden is cold, wet, uninviting and out-of-bounds ‘till spring, I need to learn to appreciate my indoor gardening a bit more.
My Christmas cactus is in bloom. It’s a very young plant and this is the first time it’s bloomed.

A few years ago I ‘rescued’ a neglected and half dead Money Plant from my work. That was a couple of years ago. Since then it’s grown three times its original size, it’s given me half a dozen or so ‘babies, which are all doing well, and now it proudly occupies the best place in the kitchen window.
My Aloe Vera is another young plant. It was taken as a tiny side shoot from a colleagues plant earlier this year and already it needs repotting.
And these a just a few of the many.

I have a really great indoor plant called a Hahnii. Its native to Mississippi or Louisiana, I think. Picture a mother-in-law tongue, shrink the leaves and arrange in a rosette. That's the hahnii. Extremely tough. I like the succulents. They're more forgiving.

Lookin' good! I'm trying to grow some herbs & lettuce. We have mild winters & my living room faces south & I ought to get a crop or two. Have Fun!

Houseplants are so nice to have, a real joy on dark and dreary days. My Christmas Cactus is in bud now, hoping it will be blooming soon. I just planted some Amaryllis bulbs with the children and they should be in bloom at Christmas. We plant something every year for gifts for their Teachers, this year it is Hawaiian Ti (also Ki) plants. They are started from small logs brought in from the islands.

The Aloe Vera is a great and useful plant to have around.

Ah, I just bought one (the top pic) cactus the other day from Walmarts....so pretty. I have turned one of the rooms into what I call my plant room now and it only has one window facing east so I have been getting some advice on lighting. I did add a humidifier which all the plants seem to like so far. I'd like to see more information on indoor gardening through the winter months.

Your plants look so healthy! It's about time I brought a few of my outside plants in for the Winter. I just can't figure out where to put them. lol

Unfortunately I don't have an outside garden, so my all-year-round garden is my indoor plants. Your Christmas cactus is lovely. I'm very partial to any cactus, and, since it's become fashionable, I always have bamboo.

I don't have enough sunny windows for lots of plants. You're look great. Do you have chickens and hens...the plant? I think that's a neat indoor plant and forgiving of lack of light even tho it likes good light.

All look good! I have fewer house plants now than I did at one time. There are so many outside I feel less the need inside.
